DAY FORTY: PEACE

Welcome to our final reflection for our forty-day retreat. Today, I borrow the lyrics of Horatio Gates Spafford. This is a popular song- Please sing along....  When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,  when sorrows like sea billows roll;  whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,  It is well, it is well with my soul.  Refrain: It is well with my soul,  it is well, it is well with my soul.   Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,  let this blest assurance control,  that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,  and hath shed his own blood for my soul.  (Refrain)  My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!  My sin, not in part but the whole,  is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,  praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!  (Refrain)  And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,  the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;  the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,  even so, it is well with my soul.  (Refrain)

DAY THIRTY-NINE: PURIFICATION

Welcome to day thirty-nine of our forty-day retreat and reflections. We are gradually hitting the finish line. Yesterday, a follower of these reflections asked me why yesterday's post was very brief. Actually, he said, "Errrmm....today's post is kinda incomplete". I laughed as I told him the simple truth that that was all the message was. What is more profound than informing you that the King of all kings and the Lord of all and over all things IS CALLING YOU? We are reflecting on purification today. Christians all over the world today are in remembrance of the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ on the Cross. I want us to reflect on the death of Jesus Christ. How be it, that a King would descend in human form to be humiliated by men He created by His own hands and whose very existence is made possible by the breath from His very self?  How be it that a man who knew no sin, came to carry the burden of sin of all mankind- those born and yet unborn? He came, t

DAY THIRTY-SEVEN: SERVICE

Hello, Welcome to our thirty-seventh day. It's still #SHARINGLIFE. We reflect on Service today. A Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ once told me that, my level of service would determine how far the institution I work for would grow. I was shocked because I couldn't imagine how I could have such influence on an organisation. Reflecting on what he said, I can say that I understand him. Service comes with a mindset of putting others first. It comes with a person deciding to put smiles on the faces of those they encounter. SERVICE = PUTTING OTHERS FIRST Now in putting others first, let me say that it comes with Wisdom. Yes, Wisdom. As Christians, our lives are mainly acts of service. This is because God gave us a golden rule to live by: LOVE FOR GOD AND LOVE FOR MAN. When you love someone, you devote your time to serve them in any means possible. Now back to the issue of Wisdom. A friend of mine admonished me in a way that sums up all I want to say regarding t

DAY THIRTY-SIX: STUDENT REPENTANCE

Hello! It's day thirty-six of our forty-day retreat and reflections. We are reflecting on student repentance today. Why this topic today? Maybe it is because this is where I find myself presently. There was a time I couldn't help but ask myself why I sometimes felt out of place in school. I do not mean to say that I am perfect for I am in no way close to perfection. It's just that after entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ, I realised that my life wasn't mine in the first place, to be living anyhow. It also took a good friend of mine to re-echo that into my mind when it seemed like I was losing focus. I am calling all of us to repentance because I sense that it is about time we realised that our living on this Earth has nothing to do with our desires or our pleasures but because of the Primary will of a Sovereign One. We search our hearts and we see the decay that is hidden in the deepest depths of it...even in the Christian student-body. It is sad

DAY THIRTY-FIVE: BASIC EDUCATION IN GHANA

Hello and welcome to the final week of our forty-day retreat and reflections! God has really been faithful to us. We are reflecting on basic education today. It is said that the strength of any edifice is in its foundation. The foundation of any society plays a very important role in the lives of all its members. We may even say that Jesus gave us a lesson on building construction when He pointed out to the fact that a house built on a rock will never be easily swept away. Like the name implies, basic education serves as the fundamental springboard for every child in Ghana who is seeking to make it in life. In times past, our parents and grandparents who went through Elementary education, which was the name at that time, were able to work and fit into the working world without any need for further education...that was in the pre-independent era. As we moved into independence and post independence, it took higher levels of educational requirements to occupy certain job vacancies

DAY THIRTY-FOUR: INTERCESSION FOR BABIES

Hello, Wonderful weekend to us all. We are reflecting on babies today: babies in the womb and those newly born. Isn't it a joy to see a little child? We'll maybe it is because I am a woman but it is such a pleasant thing to see life exuding from that cute little being. Personally, I am of the view that no child is born evil unless it be the will of God. Even with that, we are assured of the goodness of our Father and hence, we cannot say that He would create an evil child and place that child in the womb of another. Our duty as mothers is not to only see to the physical wellbeing of our babies by being religious with our antenatal and postnatal visits to the hospital. It is not entirely about we taking our short walking exercises seriously and eating all the healthy foods. We have a duty to also protect the spiritual wellbeing of our babies especially when they are in our wombs. We must speak life into their lives as they grow inside of us. We are Christian Women and

DAY THIRTY-THREE: DORCAS SACKEY

Welcome to day thirty-three. Two days ago, we reflected on the lives of our destiny helpers. I am talking about those people whose presence in our lives gave as an amazing turnaround in life. Today we are reflecting on the life of Miss Dorcas Sackey. She is fondly known as Mama D and is the President of Women of Impact Ministries (remember we made Intercession for this ministry some weeks ago). I encountered this woman at a point in my life when I had lost my trust in God. I was scared to trust God because I feared that He would let me down in life. I feared that if I gave God my full confidence, He would not grant my needs. I feared so much. I was so passionate about growing up spiritually some years ago. By God's Grace, that has not changed. A bitter experience I had in the early years of my Christian walk broke my trust in God. I felt that God could have done a better job by preventing me from committing some serious blunders. Then at Eagles camp 2015, I met this la

DAY THIRTY-TWO: THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL.

Welcome to day thirty-two. Let me ask you these set of questions: How would you feel if you loved someone so much and the person didn't love you back? How would you feel if you gave a particular person all the attention yet he/she just didn't seem to notice your endearing? And... How would you feel if you made the whole world know that that particular person is very special to you and still, this person wouldn't even acknowledge your very existence? The people of Israel are God's very special people.  Although they carry so much value in the eyes of God, they are still far from God and not in a relationship with Him. I am talking about the kind of relationship as is desired by God Himself. There is a lot we can learn from the relationship between these Two. Before I get to that, let me ask you another question: When a sibling of yours is at loggerheads with your father, how do you, as the other sibling, handle it? Would you wish t

DAY THIRTY-ONE: CALEB HAMMOND

Hello and welcome to the 31st day of our forty-day retreat and reflections. Today, I want us to take a moment to reflect on the lives of those people we know God brought into our lives to give us a turnaround. I am talking about those people whose presence in our lives have brought us back to Christ and has given us a purpose for living. Today, I dedicate this post to one of such persons. CALEB HAMMOND God is the only one who knows how my life would have been had I not met this Man of God. A true definition of selflessness. I have learnt a great deal from him. Working for him and with him has been a great privilege and honour. His life has always been about purpose. Finding our purpose in life and moving in the light of the knowledge of that purpose. He is patient. He believes in moving in-step with the timing of God. Not rushing, not moving ahead of God's plans...It is worth admiring He loves. Like 1Corinthians 13, never giving up on another, always hoping and tru

DAY THIRTY: YOUTH REVIVAL

Welcome to day thirty! It's still sharing life. What do you think about the youth of our present generation? I am a youth and probably, you are too. What do you honestly think? I find it hard to decipher between the youth of the world and those in Christ Jesus. I do not dare to judge because judgement is by My Father the King alone. I desire a move of God, strongly within the youth of this world. WHY? We are the future of our various countries and the world as a whole. In the midst of the corruption caused by sin, I desire a youth that would stand in the midst of it all and say, "I STAND FOR TRUTH: I STAND FOR CHRIST". Daddy must 'come to town' again. The truth of the matter is, when a man is in Christ, surely, he is a new creation. If Christians would be Christians, the world would be a safer place for all. Lord Holy Spirit, please help us to wait on You so that You may kindle in us, your fire and zeal to live for You only. In this

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT: BEREAVED FAMILIES

Welcome to day twenty-eight! We are reflecting on the lives of bereaved families today. A few months ago,  a very good friend of mine lost her father. As a friend, it was very difficult for me to see my friend hurting. Nonetheless, I had to be strong, by the Grace of God, for her. When we search deep within our hearts, we are reminded of the people whose lives left indelible marks in our hearts and minds. We have lost fathers, mothers, siblings, close friends, colleagues and associates. These people have left vacuums which cannot easily be filled. It is a tough experience for anyone going through this phase but still, I believe that God is Faithful. Sometimes we wish we had said all the things we needed them to know. We also wish there had been another way to say goodbye other than the way we had. My dear, I know that it is very hard to let go of the ones we've held on so dear. It is good to cherish the good times we had but let us let go of all the bitter memories we e

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN: COMMERCIAL SEX WORKERS, PRIVATE ESCORTS, ETC.

Welcome to day twenty-seven. The day you saw the commercial sex worker across the streets, I bet you thought to yourself: this lady has no shame?! Or you may have shouted in your mind: home wrecker! Hmmm... Even before you imagined a day in the life of such a person, you had already condemned her to hell and committed her to the devil. We sometimes look down on them because we think they are doing the most despicable of things. What about your own sins? Those things you do when no one is watching. Some are victims of circumstances. Many times, we are quick to boast of how we overcame our struggles in life and judge them for what they are doing. We fail to acknowledge the fact that it is just by the Grace of God that we didn't end up like them. Some live this life because of the sexual abuse they experienced when they were young. Others are going through serious demonic manipulation. Some have addictions they can't seem to free themselves from. Some genuinely need

DAY TWENTY-SIX: LOST SOULS.

Hello, it's day twenty - six of our forty-day retreat and reflections. We are reflecting on lost souls today. My heart is heavy as I reflect on this group of people. When we encountered God, when Jesus came into our lives, what prevented us from sharing Him with others? Have you thought of how amazing it would be if we were all surrounded by people who believe in Jesus Christ? The lost souls are not far from us. In our families, In our homes, In our institutions, In our workplaces, Even in the church... Brethren, let us pray for the passion for lost souls. Let us pray for fervency in our intercessions for lost souls. These people have no place in their hearts for Jesus Christ and it hurts Him. Jesus is seeking for the chance to come into their lives to make their lives better. Jesus wants to place His seal of ownership on their lives in order for the devil to not come near them. Yet, they are unwilling and clueless. Let us not look at the enormity of this task. Le

DAY TWENTY-FIVE: FAITH

Welcome to day twenty-five! Let's talk about faith today. Have you ever attended a program whose special guest of honour was a very prominent person in the state? Do you remember how elegantly the assembly was dressed? Do you remember the excitement of the people who were at the event? Let's come to our church setting. Imagine what happens when the Bishop or the Archbishop of the church comes for service. Do you see how the junior and senior pastors seek to impress him? Look at the congregation: do you see how bright their clothing look? Look at the pomp and pageantry exhibited during the service: the display of rich decor and the best equipment. Talk of the all-night rehearsals to ensure that the best songs are sung during the service. Hmmm... Have you come across Hebrews 11:6? My question to us all today is: MUST WE WAIT TO SEE OUR FATHER, THE KING PHYSICALLY BEFORE WE BELIEVE THAT HE TRULY EXISTS? We may say that we are different.....we are not culprits. Just

DAY TWENTY-FOUR: ACADEMICS OF THE CHRISTIAN STUDENT-BODY.

Hello, It's day twenty-four! We are reflecting on the academics of the Christian student-body. When I became a Christian, one of the things I was often told in my school was that Christian Students always failed or performed badly academically. That was to console me and to prepare me for the 'cross' I would be carrying in my walk with God. That is an entirely false notion! All the same, that is what growing Christians are made to believe. They are made to believe that once you accept Jesus, you will begin to fail. You will become academically poor. It is never true! We do not serve a God of diminishing returns. Our God is Excellence personified. Our God is Wisdom Our God is the Embodiment of ALL Knowledge. Our God never ever fails! Some growing Christians also see education to be a thing of the world hence they shun all forms of education and sometimes, drop out of school. Lord have mercy. I have a course mate who is currently contemplating quitting school

DAY TWENTY-THREE: PRAYERS FOR WASSCE CANDIDATES

Welcome to day twenty-three of our forty-day retreat and reflections. We are reflecting on the lives of students in Ghana who will be completing their second cycle education in a few months. I want us to pray for them because of the key role this examination plays in the lives of these students. Dreams have been shattered by the outcome of these examinations. Reflecting on my personal experience as I was preparing to write this same exam some years ago,  I really see the need for us to commit these students into the Lord's hands. Strange things happened to me before and during the examinations. 1. I had difficulty studying for my exam. 2. My friends were having issues with me. 3. On the last day of my final exam, I went totally blank. I couldn't remember anything I had studied for my paper. The shocking thing was, it was the only paper I had about ten days to prepare for. I had worked so hard to study for that paper and I was very confident in myself that I would do

DAY TWENTY-TWO: THE RIGHT PLACE

Hello! How about a nightcap before bed. This one is filled with the Holy Spirit and not alcohol. A couple of months ago, I met a lady at the bus station. It wasn't my intention to eavesdrop on her conversation over the phone but I couldn't help but hear her because she was very audible. She was telling the person on the other line of how she'd gone back into the world because of the executive position she occupied in her hall of residence. I was saddened. Then I thought to myself. Isn't the will of God that we know Him and choose to work out our relationship in earnest? Maybe I'm not putting this right. It is good to aspire for roles of leadership outside the Church. Nonetheless, it is very necessary that we seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit before we make a move in that direction. Sometimes, and I mean sometimes, God sends His Children into certain places for us to effect some changes...according to His will. We must surround ourselves with people w

DAY TWENTY-ONE: INTERCESSION: HOPEFUL MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL (HMI)

Welcome to day twenty-one! It's still #SHARINGLIFE. Happy birthday to my dear Fidelia. God bless you for your faithfulness to Him. May your presence in Egypt cause a stirring up of the atmosphere so that people may see you and give glory to Your Father in Heaven. We are reflecting on another ministry known as the Hopeful Ministries International (HMI). The mission of this ministry is a dedication towards inspiring and reinforcing women to live out God's purpose for their lives. This they do,  by reaching out to women.  I have been blessed by the works of this ministry and have also seen the remarkable things our Lord is doing for the women involved in this ministry.  My dear, whatever it is that is holding you back from living out the purpose of God in your life, please confess it to God Himself alone.  It is good to share our problems with men....but why must we confide always in people who are as limited as we are?  Jesus is the only way.  Please feel free to tell Him.

DAY TWENTY: INTERCESSION: LUKEWARM SOULS

Wooow, it is day twenty already! We bless God for how far He has brought SHARING LIFE. We are interceding for lukewarm souls today. Shall we open our Bibles to Revelations 3:15-16   I know your deeds,  that you are neither cold nor hot.  I wish you were either one or the other!   16  So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth . After reading such a text, one might say that Our Lord was being very harsh in His message to the Church of the Laodiceans. Reading further down to verse 19, He tells us His reason for His earlier statement: Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.  So be earnest and repent. You see, it is never the intention of God to make us feel bad. Jesus Christ loves us so much and wants to call us to Himself. The unfortunate thing is, some of us have heeded to this call but are still looking back to all the 'good' but falsehood the world offers.  Shall we reflect on our lives this very moment. Le

DAY NINETEEN: LOVE

Let us reflect on love today. Welcome to day nineteen. When I saw our topic for reflection this  morning, I asked myself, "What do I tell the world about this topic today?" It was there that the Holy Spirit reminded me of our partnership agreement. LOVE LOVE LOVE There has been so much abuse of the word and so much shallowness of the actual depth of this word's worth. John 3:16 says,  " For God so loved  the world that he gave  his one and only Son,  that whoever believes  in him shall not perish but have eternal life."  John 15:12 says, "   My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

DAY EIGHTEEN: PRAYERS FOR FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS.

Welcome to our eighteenth reflection! It's still SHARING LIFE. We are praying for all final-year students today. We are praying for all students who find themselves completing another level of their educational career. Here, we are referring to those who will be entering the primary school, junior high school, senior high school and tertiary level. We are also praying for those who will be graduating with a First Degree, Master's Degree, Ph.D.- not forgetting all those sitting for their final bar exams, Bible School exams and licensing examinations. We are praying the following prayers on their behalf. 1. We are thanking God for bringing them thus far in their education. 2. We are reminding Him of His promise to be with us in all our endeavours. Standing on this promise, we are asking Him to be with them as they go through this stage of completion. 3. We are praying for Divine Wisdom and Understanding for them. 4. We are asking that for the sake of His Glory,
