Christ and my beloved…where’s the sync???

A while back, I put a post on Facebook where I stated that “Before you say ‘I do’, make sure you marry God first.” Growing up, I used to hear people say, “Remember your First Love”. I had been wondering what exactly that meant until I came into contact with Christ. Let me tell you something brief about my life. When I was very young, I had a strong need for love and the sense of feeling loved. It was as though if my parents were giving my siblings 100% love, I required 250%. I had a greater sense and need for love. Whenever I had the sensing of hate or negativity, I would attempt suicide. It was like there was this profound and overwhelming need for a filling-up of my heart and I didn’t know what else I had to do to fill it up. Like Mary Magdalene, I was seeking happiness from created things…my father, mother, siblings and at a point, from friends. …and then I encountered Christ in my teens and I noticed this vacuum filling up…although I still thirst for His fullness…by His Grace.

AN ENCOUNTER WITH LIFE BEHIND BARS

When I was younger, I was wrongfully accused of theft. It was the saddest period of my life. At the time the incident occurred, my father was at work and my mother had travelled to Kumasi. When she returned, I told her what had happened and she immediately threatened to take me to prison: she had an inspector friend who could whisk me away whenever she needed that kind of help. The prisons visit I embarked on with a group of friends was a personal reminder of the faithfulness of God and how much He has covered me. You know, the young men we met at the correctional institute are no different from our brothers at home, church or in school. We need to constantly plead the blood of the Lamb over our lives. There are some of them who got caught for a single mistake…. mistakes you and I could easily have made. Over there, you would se

THE ANSWER

A wise man once said: It is one thing to receive the answer to your prayer request and it is another thing to experience the answer.  It is right to desire to grow in character and to exhibit the virtues that are characteristic of Children of the Light. I find it that praying for the fruits of the Holy Spirit requires a daily decision to die to self. It is one thing to say, "I die daily and an entirely different thing to actually die to yourself." For the manifestation of the fruits, the seed must first be planted in the ground.  The seed must be covered.  How do we bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit without Him partaking in the process?   For He is that water that causes the awakening of the embryo which is hidden within the seed coat.  When He comes, He causes the bursting of your seed coat (that protective covering you have placed around yourself which inhibits the manifestation of all the gifts He has deposited inside you).  For some of us, it
