DAY FORTY: PEACE

Welcome to our final reflection for our forty-day retreat. Today, I borrow the lyrics of Horatio Gates Spafford. This is a popular song- Please sing along....  When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,  when sorrows like sea billows roll;  whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,  It is well, it is well with my soul.  Refrain: It is well with my soul,  it is well, it is well with my soul.   Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,  let this blest assurance control,  that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,  and hath shed his own blood for my soul.  (Refrain)  My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!  My sin, not in part but the whole,  is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,  praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!  (Refrain)  And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,  the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;  the tr...

DAY THIRTY-NINE: PURIFICATION

Welcome to day thirty-nine of our forty-day retreat and reflections. We are gradually hitting the finish line. Yesterday, a follower of these reflections asked me why yesterday's post was very brief. Actually, he said, "Errrmm....today's post is kinda incomplete". I laughed as I told him the simple truth that that was all the message was. What is more profound than informing you that the King of all kings and the Lord of all and over all things IS CALLING YOU? We are reflecting on purification today. Christians all over the world today are in remembrance of the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ on the Cross. I want us to reflect on the death of Jesus Christ. How be it, that a King would descend in human form to be humiliated by men He created by His own hands and whose very existence is made possible by the breath from His very self?  How be it that a man who knew no sin, came to carry the burden of sin of all mankind- those born and yet unborn? He came, t...

DAY THIRTY-SEVEN: SERVICE

Hello, Welcome to our thirty-seventh day. It's still #SHARINGLIFE. We reflect on Service today. A Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ once told me that, my level of service would determine how far the institution I work for would grow. I was shocked because I couldn't imagine how I could have such influence on an organisation. Reflecting on what he said, I can say that I understand him. Service comes with a mindset of putting others first. It comes with a person deciding to put smiles on the faces of those they encounter. SERVICE = PUTTING OTHERS FIRST Now in putting others first, let me say that it comes with Wisdom. Yes, Wisdom. As Christians, our lives are mainly acts of service. This is because God gave us a golden rule to live by: LOVE FOR GOD AND LOVE FOR MAN. When you love someone, you devote your time to serve them in any means possible. Now back to the issue of Wisdom. A friend of mine admonished me in a way that sums up all I want to say regarding t...

DAY THIRTY-SIX: STUDENT REPENTANCE

Hello! It's day thirty-six of our forty-day retreat and reflections. We are reflecting on student repentance today. Why this topic today? Maybe it is because this is where I find myself presently. There was a time I couldn't help but ask myself why I sometimes felt out of place in school. I do not mean to say that I am perfect for I am in no way close to perfection. It's just that after entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ, I realised that my life wasn't mine in the first place, to be living anyhow. It also took a good friend of mine to re-echo that into my mind when it seemed like I was losing focus. I am calling all of us to repentance because I sense that it is about time we realised that our living on this Earth has nothing to do with our desires or our pleasures but because of the Primary will of a Sovereign One. We search our hearts and we see the decay that is hidden in the deepest depths of it...even in the Christian student-body. It is sad ...

DAY THIRTY-FIVE: BASIC EDUCATION IN GHANA

Hello and welcome to the final week of our forty-day retreat and reflections! God has really been faithful to us. We are reflecting on basic education today. It is said that the strength of any edifice is in its foundation. The foundation of any society plays a very important role in the lives of all its members. We may even say that Jesus gave us a lesson on building construction when He pointed out to the fact that a house built on a rock will never be easily swept away. Like the name implies, basic education serves as the fundamental springboard for every child in Ghana who is seeking to make it in life. In times past, our parents and grandparents who went through Elementary education, which was the name at that time, were able to work and fit into the working world without any need for further education...that was in the pre-independent era. As we moved into independence and post independence, it took higher levels of educational requirements to occupy certain job vacancies...

DAY THIRTY-FOUR: INTERCESSION FOR BABIES

Hello, Wonderful weekend to us all. We are reflecting on babies today: babies in the womb and those newly born. Isn't it a joy to see a little child? We'll maybe it is because I am a woman but it is such a pleasant thing to see life exuding from that cute little being. Personally, I am of the view that no child is born evil unless it be the will of God. Even with that, we are assured of the goodness of our Father and hence, we cannot say that He would create an evil child and place that child in the womb of another. Our duty as mothers is not to only see to the physical wellbeing of our babies by being religious with our antenatal and postnatal visits to the hospital. It is not entirely about we taking our short walking exercises seriously and eating all the healthy foods. We have a duty to also protect the spiritual wellbeing of our babies especially when they are in our wombs. We must speak life into their lives as they grow inside of us. We are Christian Women and...
