Hello and welcome to the final week of our forty-day retreat and reflections!
God has really been faithful to us.
We are reflecting on basic education today.
It is said that the strength of any edifice is in its foundation.
The foundation of any society plays a very important role in the lives of all its members.
We may even say that Jesus gave us a lesson on building construction when He pointed out to the fact that a house built on a rock will never be easily swept away.
Like the name implies, basic education serves as the fundamental springboard for every child in Ghana who is seeking to make it in life.
In times past, our parents and grandparents who went through Elementary education, which was the name at that time, were able to work and fit into the working world without any need for further education...that was in the pre-independent era.
As we moved into independence and post independence, it took higher levels of educational requirements to occupy certain job vacancies.
Times have changed.
I know that.
Yet, I believe that we can have a system which prepares our young people to better fend for themselves and give their lives more meaning.
I was privileged to sit under the tutelage of teachers who were trained in the colonial era.
My goodness!
I just loved the way they taught us the phonetics of the English language combined with mathematics and diverse courses.
Personally, I can boldly say that the training I received from them helped me to be a better person and placed me ahead of my peers.
We are praying for a teachable spirit for all young people in this level because sometimes, it is not the inability of the teachers to teach but rather, the unwillingness of the students to humble themselves to be taught.
We also pray for patience for our teachers. We ask the Holy Spirit to grant them the heart to be patient as they wait on these students to grow into the people they want them to be.
Finally, we ask the Spirit of Excellence to encapsulate every sphere of basic education in Ghana.
In Jesus' mighty name!
Amen!
It's still #SHARINGLIFE.
Don't stop sharing!
